I am firmly launched on creating my documentary on the Galapagos Islands.  I have excellent editing help and lots of support.  Several of my Galapagos colleagues have contributed footage and pictures.  I am thrilled beyond words by the beautiful images I have received.   I hope that the final product will be ready to share by late Spring.   Until then have a look at some of the great images I will post on my blog!

The galapagos is home to varied iguanas.  They come in many shapes and sizes and even colours.  My friend Angie has this guy photographically nailed.

 I can track a giant turtle in the water but not even close with a penquin.

SNORKELLING AT DAPHNE AND PINZON ISLANDS IN THE GALAPAGOS

I spent another super day out in the Pacific.  I went on a day trip from Puerto Ayora in a small boat to the islands of Daphne and Pinzon. We had a beach stop somewhere between the two islands.  We were the only ones on the beach and I never really did figure out where we were.

My companions were delightful company.  We were 9 in total plus the very excellent Park guide, Jamie and 2 crew.  Our gang of 9 included an Ecuadorian family from near Manta on the coast, the guide's girlfriend and two Aussies.

We skirted Daphne before parking and saw many birds and sea lions.  The snorkelling spots were varied.  We saw many types of fish, a couple of sharks, some rays and eels.

Boat travel was quite exciting as we saw a large number of frolicking dolphins.

Everyone had a seat on our cozy boat.  We all sat around the table for lunch.

At one point the ocean was quite rough.  No one got sick and we made it through safely.

BARTOLOME ISLAND OF GALAPAGOS ISLANDS

BARTOLOME IS A UNIQUE CORNER OF THE WORLD filled with breathtaking landscapes.  We hiked to the highest point on the summit trail.  The volcanic ash trail is covered with a small stepped easy to manage wooden stairway.  Pinnacle Rock, often visible, is the most photographed site in the Galapagos.

Along with my friend, Angela, we joined a group on the lovely boat Narel for the day trip from Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz island to Bartolome.  On the boat trip we were served breakfast and lunch.  Once anchored we went by dinghy to the shore.

We travelled back in time to the formation of lava tubes and spatter cones.

We were able to see pioneer plants that were establishing roots on relatively very new ground.  These plants included many species of cactus.

We had two opportunities to snorkel on the trip.
